An important first step in dealing with your stress is to simply accept and acknowledge that it’s your emotional response to a situation or event in your life that causes your stress, not the situation itself. Where are Your Habits Leading You?

Where are Your Habits Leading You?
by Jack Canfield

Your Habits will Determine Your FutureYou are an accumulation of your habits. From how you get out of bed, how you shower, how you dress, how you walk, sit, and talk, how you respond to the world, how you act in front of others, and how you think; you’re living out your habits.

Habits are necessary.

They free up your mind so you can concentrate on how to survive day to day. You don’t have to think about how to drive your car so you can be on the lookout for danger while you are driving. You don’t have to think about how to walk so you can concentrate on where you’re going.

Unfortunately, habits can also keep you locked in self-destructive patterns, which will limit your success.

Is there something you want to accomplish in life that requires you to up-level your game? Whatever it is that you want to achieve, you will need to drop those bad habits that are lead to a dead-end and develop new ones that are in alignment with the life you want to live.

People don’t suddenly appear in the life they want to live… their habits play a large part in determining their outcome.

What are the habits you have that are keeping you from achieving your goals?

Really be honest with yourself here…

Are you always running late?
Do you return phone calls within 24 hours?
Do you get enough sleep?
Do you follow through on your promises?
Do you plan out your day?

Imagine what your life would be like if all your habits were their productive counterparts!

  • What would your life be like if you ate healthy meals, exercised and got enough sleep?
  • What if you saved your money, stopped using credit cards and paid cash for everything?
  • What if you stopped procrastinating, overcame your fears, and began networking with people in your field?
  • Would your life be different? I bet it would!

So, my suggested action step for you is to write down some productive habits you could adopt and visualize in your life. Step two is to ‘act as if’ you were living these new habits right now!

I’d like to help you get moving toward creating more successful habits, so I’d recommend you develop four of your new success habits each year, one for each quarter.

Once you pick the new habit you’re ready to adopt, next you’ll want to create a method that will support your new habit.

Here are some ideas… You could write it down on a card that you keep with you and read several times a day. You could make it a part of your daily visualization. You could also enlist the help of an accountability partner who has habits to change, or work with a personal coach who can keep you on track.

It’s important to make a 100% commitment to your new habit, so be specific about the steps that you’re willing to take in order to drop an old habit and adopt a new one. Don’t be vague about how you will change your habits. Spell it out for yourself so you can recognize situations that motivate you to act out your new habit.

Just developing four new habits a year will dramatically shift your life to be more in line with your vision. And the more in line it becomes, the easier the other habits are to replace because your perspective is shifting and you can see more clearly how your old habits aren’t serving you anymore.

Make the decision. Make the commitment. Then watch your new, positive life unfold!

I’ll see you in another two weeks in the next edition of Success Strategies. In the meantime, take the time to implement just one of the strategies discussed in today’s issue.

Anger Management With Powerful Subliminal Messaging

Anger Management No Comments

Anger and it’s ugly brother violence, are the worst of human negative emotions. Frustration is often taken out on the family, partners, or colleagues of the angry person - and obviosuly this has a very negative effect upon that area of their life. But can people who are cursed by their inability to curb their temper do anything about their nature?

Anger can be compared to any destructive or self harming act, first of all the person needs to accept and acknowledge that they have a problem. The next stage is to firmly commit to making a change and to ask for help from a legitimate source. Anger management programs will give you a varied amount of tecnhiques to control anger and bring the angry feelings to a more common way of emotional expression.

Now all of this good work can be reinforced with the use of a subliminal anger control CD. Beyond the frequency of your hearing this relaxing music contains positive messages. The angry mind and heart absorb the life affirming, anger managing communications without any conscious effort. Someone with anger tendencies should play the album whenever he first feels the anger rising inside, or a more proactive, positive and mature approach is to simply play the album several times each day - this will keep the anger at bay at first, and eventually remove the anger problem alltogether - a very natural and simple cure to a serious problem.

Most of what we feel is first felt in our unconscious mind, all of the information coming at us is too much and we are not even fully aware of the emotions which drive us half of the time, but it will require a great amount of conscious effort to break even some of our simple personal habits which are holding us back.

Anger comes from deep within us and will often emerge from our inner self with frightening speed. This powerful adversary needs an effective unconscious counter to really stop it in its tracks to really stop it once and for all. Subliminal mp3s won’t work on their own but when combined with a true and sincere desire to change, then they will can make all of the difference between effective anger management and your anger unleashed.

Learn Self Hypnosis And Make Positive Changes In You Life

Self Improvement 1 Comment

Discover, learn and use self hypnosis to overcome life’s challenges and achieve the extraordinary.

If you have something you desire to change or accomplish such as losing weight, overcoming a fear or to quit a 20 year smoking habit, believe it or not, self hypnosis can help you deal with all of these problems quickly, easily and permanently.

However, if you are wondering why would anyone want or should use self hypnosis to help themselves since there are thousands of other methods that a person can turn to, to improve themselves. Well, the answer lies within our own powerful subconscious brain.

In a 1981 article “The phenomena and Characteristics of Self Hypnosis”, Dr Erika Fromm discovered that our brain is more receptive to self suggestions, rather than receiving them from another person, because these self suggestions are more readily accepted by our ego.

Therefore, as long as you’re willing, you can positively align your thoughts around the area of your need with self hypnosis to help you create a definite focus for your mind so as to maximize your creative potential to accomplish whatever you desire from life.

With self hypnosis, you can learn to undo bad habits, like smoking or overeating. You can give yourself permission to be happier, more self-confident, less shy or more motivated – just by using the right message.

To achieve real change, you need to change your subconscious; and the best way to develop powerful influence over your subconscious mind is through self hypnotism.

Do you know the world’s top athletes and movie stars like Tiger Woods, Lee Evans, John Travolta and Oprah all use self hypnosis to help themselves overcome their failures and achieve their true potential.

If you are truly desire change and is ready to live a better, happier life, try Self Hypnosis today to make dramatically positive changes in your life.

How The effects Of Procrastination Can Be Devastating To A Relationship

Self Improvement No Comments

At work and at home, people form relationships in which they depend on one another. Family life can be rocky or smooth depending on the ability of spouses and family members to divide the necessary home duties and follow through on their individual responsibilities. Relationships between co-workers also involve a level of trust that each member of the business team will contribute an adequate amount of work to a given assignment. In both of these circumstances, one person’s failure to do a fair share of the work can be devastating to the effectiveness of the family or work group and can also hinder people from trusting one another. Therefore, when procrastination becomes a significant influence in a person’s habits, both the practical and the emotional sides of the person’s family and work relationships will suffer.

In family relationships, there is always a large amount of work that needs to be accomplished in order for the home to run smoothly. Periodic tasks might include maintenance on a home or on appliances, work in the yard, laundry, cleaning, washing dishes, cooking, keeping a vehicle or vehicles in working order, and child care. If any of these chores are left out for a significant amount of time, the household will be unable to operate effectively. In cases where one family member gets behind in chores, especially due to a reasonable situation like an illness or the need to work extra hours at a job, other family members will probably be happy to work around the slowdown and even pick up the excess chores temporarily. However, once a family member habitually procrastinates for extended periods of time and leaves his or her part of house work unfinished, other family members might begin to resent the chores being left unfinished and being loaded down with the additional work. The situation can be especially tense if the procrastinator uses entertainment or games as a procrastination device, watching television or playing computer games while the other members of the household struggle with more than their share of chores. Regardless of whether the procrastinator is a spouse, parent, child, sibling or in-law, only an end to the procrastination and a responsible amount of work will remedy the strain that procrastinating can cause in a family.

In a business environment, procrastination can be similarly destructive. People who work full-time spend a majority of their time during the day with their co-workers, and the relationships between business team members are an important part of the social lives of professionals. When one member of a business team is a chronic procrastinator, the other team members often need to shoulder the procrastinator’s share of work to meet deadlines. And when members of the team each have a specific field of work, one person’s procrastination may leave the others unable to get the information they need to complete their own assignments. Resentments, distrust and hostility may result, particularly in cases where the entire team misses out on a bonus or other reward due to one member’s procrastination habits. And as in the event of procrastination at home, the only dependable method to better the situation is for the procrastinator to adopt whatever organizational and time management steps are requisite to accomplish a sensible amount of work.

A Hypnotherapy Training what is it Good For?

Books No Comments

There are several reasons why people should seek out hypnotherapy training. Aside from being able to help other people, you get to help yourself as well. The reasons of doing self hypnosis training are actually great. Being of service to others as you are for yourself is a very great thing to do theses days. Although hypnosis may have been thought of as a form of witch craft, you would rather prove yourselves disappointing as hypnosis is a science and art that is meant to provide an array of medical benefits to your mind and to your health as well.

A hypnotherapy training in and of itself provides you with nothing more than the ability to help other people do what they really want to do. By unlocking the subconscious part of the mind, one would be able to find out the root factors of stress and other health related ailments. And by motivating that part of your brain, you get back to your normal daily functions again. The hypnotherapy training is of great help not only to self applications but to group ordeals as well. However, it is essential to remember that hypnosis only works if the subject has the desire to last long in the therapy and if the person himself is willing to undergo change. If not, the hypnosis training could grow to be unfruitful for you.

Hypnotherapy Training: Health Benefits

Hypnotherapy training has been tried by many people because of the major changes it brings to one’s health. If you are a smoker or an alcoholic, engaging on a hypnotherapy training can help you reduce or eliminate the urge on these harmful habits. Again, it may take some time before you can actually control yourself; but the wait is definitely all worth it because of the positive changes it brings to your life.

Hypnotherapy Training: Career Benefits

Hypnotherapy training is also proven to be very beneficial to one’s career. Because you are able to focus on your goals, you are able to do well in your career as well. Hypnosis provides the best way of knowing how your mind runs through unlocking the doors to your subconscious. If you are able to control this part of your brain, you would surely find out the things that motivate you. You can use these motivation factors to help you gain steps higher in your career.

Hypnotherapy training is indeed very beneficial to people. Some may have doubted the capabilities of this therapy; but once you have tried it for yourself, you will experience how soothing the treatment can be both for your mind and body.

Change The Environment To Suit Yourself

Motivation No Comments

Many donkey years ago, George Lam, a famous moustached singer, appeared in an advertisement for Guinness Stout. He said, ‘Some people tell you to change yourself to suit the environment’, then followed by, ‘Why not change the environment to suit yourself’ and he went on to turn the picture upside down to display a glass of stout.

I never gave much thought about that. Many people feel upset with their job and they keep on complaining, but they do not take any action to make things better. While we cannot expect to keep our bad habits and still survive in the working environment, sometimes it may be just easier to change the environment. There is only so much you can change about yourself within a short period of time. It’s just like being a square peg in a round hole. It is really hard to fit in.

Before changing to a new company, I was rather miserable in my previous workplace last year, and I became very negative and demoralised. I thought I was in the wrong vocation totally. However, after making a change to a new workplace, not exactly by choice, I realised that I had been the square peg for the longest time. Despite having to put in longer hours, not that the hours were short at my previous company, I had a greater sense of achievement.

True, it may be too early to tell, but at least I’m happier. That was the same I felt when I went to my previous workplace for the first time. I was utterly miserable at my first workplace, and I had even thought of breaking my bond. It turned out that the environments had simply been not suitable for me.

I made this realisation when I realised that the people in my company were more artistic and cultured. Every time I went for lunch at the cafeteria, there were always people playing the piano. Some were young, but they played the piano extremely well. That’s the type of environment I want to be in. With the Law of Attraction, I’m able to find people who are more like me, and I also start to focus more on the positive side. I do not like to be in a place where basic discipline in the people was lacking.

Because of the new environment, I found myself returning to the piano. I had spent twenty years on the piano, but unfortunately, I have little achievement to boast of. Those talented people simply played extremely demanding pieces on the piano by heart. I dug out my old music books, and started playing over the weekend.

That simply reminded me of my days in my secondary school, where I could play on one of the many pianos that were available for students to play. I liked this type of environment, and I strongly feel that with culture, the world will be a better place.

So, why not change your environment instead of constantly complaining about the current place? Sometimes, it’s not the vocation that’s wrong; it’s simply the environment. It’s also no wonder why Menscius’ mother moved his house three times just to let her son grow up in the best environment.

Observations In An Examination

Motivation No Comments

I had the opportunity to observe an examination and since I had plenty of time to kill while waiting for the rain to stop, I thought of some lessons learnt.

1. Stop Being Trapped In Similar Situations
The ones who broke something while doing the examination did not learn from their mistakes. They broke the same thing again, within a short space of time. They are trapped in a vicious cycle where they continuously repeat the same mistakes. Telling people to learn from mistakes do not work.

They have to do the right steps the first time round, because habits are formed from learned behaviour. It is just like playing the piano. Once you make a mistake at a particular part, you would have forgotten how the right tune should sound. Your fingers would have developed the muscle memory of playing the wrong note each time round.

When you have to concentrate on avoiding that mistake, since it is already learnt, you take time away from other parts which you have already done well. That is because there is only so much we can concentrate at a given time. Things that are repeated will become a habit.

2. See Things From A Different Angle
In the same task, people approach it differently. Some squat down to look at it at the same level, while others bend down to look from top down. Do they get the same results? Perhaps. However, there are occasions when results are really different due to parallax errors. When is the last time you approach a problem from a different angle?

It also means that when you work in a team, people see things differently. They view the same issue from different angles, and you can check whether you are on the right track.

3. Be Well-prepared
During an examination, some of them forgot to bring certain stationery. Just like a swordsman should have his sword during a duel, a person having an examination should have his or her complete set of stationery. If not, such people are just short-changing themselves. While an artist can simply use what’s available on hand, there are still certain things that are absolutely vital.

Did they make a checklist of the necessary equipment beforehand? Did they carry out a check before going for the examination? In business, if you have a presentation to make to a client, you jolly well have to make sure you have everything with you. If you tell them something is forgotten, or another thing is spoilt, they will have very bad impression of you. They can just give the deal to another party, since they are afraid you will be ill-prepared for their work.

I wonder what is stopping them from being well-prepared. Is it disinterest? Poor attitude?

Magic Rule of 21: Kicking A Bad Habit

Books, Personal Development No Comments

Boy In Trouble

In The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari: A Fable About Fulfilling Your Dreams & Reaching Your Destinyby Robin S. Sharma, it talks about the Magic Rule of 21. You apply this rule when you want to have a new habit.

It is very tough to get rid of old habits because old habits die hard. However, what we can do is to have a new habit that has so much energy that the old one will go away. This is when you replace your bad habit.

In order for this to work, you need to apply the rule. You need to spend 21 days in a row to permanently have a new habit. You need to make it like a ritual, doing it at the same time, same day and same place.

For example, I have a major problem with tidy desks, so my bad habit of allowing my desk to become messy should be kicked. I want to break this habit by having a new habit, which is to tidy my desk daily, so that things will not pile up and go missing. I will have more space on my table and I will feel happier with a neat table.

However, as I have not applied this Magic Rule of 21, my table is constantly in a mess. Perhaps I have unwittingly applied the Magic Rule of 21 by putting things on my desk everyday, and leaving my things there without putting into drawers or acting on them.

Hence, to get this to work, I shall spend 5 minutes every day, early in the morning when I get to work, to tidy my table. I shall put away all books, and stack the papers properly. Things that need to be filed should be filed. My pens should go back to the same containers I had taken them out from.

By the end of 21 days, it should become a routine for me to start my day, and I will not have to waste huge amount of time on finding papers.

Days of Being Wild (Dogs)

Books, Training No Comments

Schnauzers and other dogs are extremely cute when they are young. I used to stand outside pet shops and look at the puppies inside, knowing my mother would never let me bring home one. Besides, my parents grew up in families where dogs cost nothing free and not considered pets, but rather as guard dogs.

I took the video at a friend’s place. The dog did not belong to her, but her friends. This dog was extremely cute, but it had a habit of messing with my shoes. In addition, since they let him roam around the garden and house, I had to be careful not to let the dog escape whenever I leave the house.

The owners were young, and they did not know how to manage the dog. As the dog grew bigger, it became bolder. It would also try to make its way into the house, and even go up the stairs. It destroyed things in the house. It kept licking and disturbing visitors. Without dog training, the dog did not obey their commands and the young owners ended up screaming at it.

After a few months, I realised the dog was gone. I did not ask my friend immediately. One day, I asked her and she told me that it had been very naughty, so they sold it. I was somewhat upset, but I think it was for the better because they did not know how to take great care of it and control it.

Somehow, it makes me think about us human beings. We have many talents, and we start out good. However, without proper guidance, we are left to our own devices and we cannot help the way we behave. By the time people realise that and scream at us, our habits are too ingrained to be changed.

The great thing is we are able to take things into our hands. We should be able to realise we can change and improve ourselves. We can start by reading up on things we could improve on, and if necessary, get others to help remind us. If possible, get mentors or teachers who are willing to help. To paraphrase a line from The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari: A Fable About Fulfilling Your Dreams & Reaching Your Destiny, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. This is something I totally agree with. So, change your mindset before you get kicked out of the picture, just like that schnauzer.
